Bio
With lifelong roots in the Australian landscape, Kylian’s art is a sensory exploration of her deep connection to place.
Her work is steeped in slow living, attunement and instinctual play. Her nervous system at the helm, she is led by her body. The resulting honesty and aliveness in Kylian’s work allows the viewer to imagine her in the physical act of painting/drawing.
Kylian’s gestural mark making combines earth pigments and rainwater from the land – with charcoal, acrylic, ink and oil sticks to create large works on paper and canvas, plein air. She also creates more intimate pieces including concertina sketchbooks and multimedia collage in her studio.
Her work has been described as sensual, grounding, expansive, exquisite and full of energy.

About
Art + nature have been my lifeline, since growing up on a farm in rural NSW in the 1970’s + 1980’s. A painter + designer in the 1990s. I received my Masters in Creative Arts Therapy. Curated + exhibited in countless exhibitions. I sold my art in the 2000’s in Melbourne galleries.
But I burnt out, big time.
Always fascinated by the capacity of creativity + play to nourish the nervous system. My work morphed into Somatic Education. I taught thousands of people how to rest. Like REALLY rest. It was really about dismantling grind culture, resolving trauma + the burnout cycle. Nervous system nourishment. But as I moved the work online I was tethered to technology.
For me, this is no way to live.
So I’ve come full circle: my 3rd act. I bought a farm in the Northern Rivers Hinterland. I’ve planted a Big Scrub rainforest. I’m out in nature + in the studio + I still nap, every single day. And I can’t wait to share what’s next.
I’m so glad you’re here.
The well rested artist
